Cards/letters of encouragement for evacuees - Hurricane Katrina

About Cards/letters of encouragement for evacuees

The Grass Valley, CA Elks are spearheading a drive for cards/letters of encouragement for hurricane refugees who are being sheltered in their Louisiana affiliates' programs.

I just spoke with a woman today and she assured me that they would give out every single card or letter to the evacuees, and that the people were truly appreciating them.

Here's their website: http://www.grassvalleyelks.org/Sub/Announcements.cfm

They also take cash/checks, but most of all they're looking for cards and letters.

Send them to:

Dawn Narvaez
P.O. Box 314
Penn Valley, CA 95946

You can get creative if you want - I know one family that's sending some paper dolls their six year old daughter made to kids in the shelters.

Please also let me know if there are other places I should post this.

I have contacted the Grass Valley Elks, thanks to this post... You can always post in sister_cities for Katrina info, though it's new and not many members yet... :D
